After three stages of selection, the results of the second “XCMG Cup” Green Innovation Design Competition have been released. The winners were selected among the 200 impressive and creative solutions submitted from nearly 800 individuals, teams and organizations from eight countries and regions around the world, including mainland China, Macau, Canada, Brazil, Czech, Turkey, Bangladesh and Russia.
First organized in 2016, “XCMG Cup” Green Innovation Design Competition aims at motivating tech talents to think out-of-the-box and create new ideas to make impossible possible, especially in enhancing the convergence of product design and performance as well as reducing the impact on the environment.
Focusing on green and environmentally-friendly technology, this year’s competition was themed on seeking new hoisting solutions for wind turbine assembly, and design solutions for the small and green multifunctional excavator. Entry submissions were carefully evaluated and judged by the experienced and professional jury panel composed of leading experts from the fields of mechanical engineering, smart manufacturing and industrial design. Outstanding entries were selected and finalists were nominated based on innovation and practicability of the projects. This year, Yanshan University’s team (China) and the team from Taiyuan University of Science and Technology (China) were entitled to receive the first prize of the two solutions.
“XCMG Cup” enables the company to advance manufacturing technology for the entire construction machinery industry. XCMG considers the submitted projects as real assets and places a high value on their applications. Most of the creative ideas from the previous competition, for instance, the sweeper truck which significantly improved the cleaning efficacy, have been applied in product design and development.
There is no boundary when it comes to solving the bottlenecks in an industry. “It’s exciting to exchange ideas with elites from different regions around the world, and of different colors and languages. Breaking the traditional mold of closed-door research and development, the competition makes our creations practical and real, and sufficiently demonstrates the company’s vision of pushing forward the green and sustainable development of the industry,” shared by Pan Jianye, the first prize awardee of the energy-efficient excavator solution.
As Wang Min, Chairman and President of XCMG mentioned before, to implement the modernization strategy, in the process of transitioning from traditional manufacturing to the digital one, it is important to capitalize on the new technologies such as smart manufacturing and green power, with an open mind.
The fusion of internet and innovative entrepreneurship and manufacturing has become inevitable to expedite technological advancement and business model. Customers are looking for products and services which drive higher efficiency and productivity. Through “XCMG Cup” Green Innovation Design Competition, a cloud platform is built to connect industrial designers and manufacturers to contribute new ideas to light on the path of the acceleration of technology innovation.
