Being advanced, highly effective and environmentally friendly, XCMG’s three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo assisted Mongolia-China Railway construction.

The entire length of Mongolia-China railway MHTJ-16 bid-section of Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC is 44.86 kilometers. The 14 tunnels designed have an overall length of 33.38 kilometers, accounting for 74% of the whole railway. It is a railway project constructed by Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC which owns the most tunnels and the longest tunnel at present.  Having a full length of 14.533 kilometers, Da Zhongshan tunnel is the key control engineering of the project. For fulfilling Mongolia-China Railway Company’s requirements of promoting mechanical construction, Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC organized specialists to conduct a comprehensive investigation of the enterprises at home and aboard which produce three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo. Through comprehensive comparison and selection, the leaders of Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC decided to cooperate with XCMG and chose XCMG’s three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo in May, 2016. After sufficient communication and careful arrangement between two sides, XCMG’s TZ3A three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo smoothly came into the field and officially put into operation in September, 2016.

On Oct. 13th, Zhang Mei, the chairman, the Party committee secretary and the general manager of Mongolia-China Railway, Jiang Tao, the vice general manager and the commander of Jin & Yu command and their delegations paid a special visit to the Mongolia-China railway MH-16 bid project site for observing the construction situations of the rock drill jumbo, in the accompany of Kong Dun, the general manager of Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC, Zhang Qingyuan, the vice general manager, and persons in charge of the companies involved in construction. After listening to the construction situations of TZ3A three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo introduced by the technicians of the project side and XCMG, Zhang Mei and his delegations gave praise to Shanghai Civil Engineering Co., Ltd of CREC’s adoption of rapid mechanical construction in Da Zhongshan tunnel project and light explosion effect. He declared that we must pay great attention to tunnel construction safety and quality management issues during the course of construction. We should popularize full mechanical construction, improve process method, and increase the efficiency of construction work, in order to create conditions for constant and rapid construction and provide powerful safeguard for engineering quality and safety. Zhang Mei encouraged XCMG to keep up the good work as well, and wished that it can contribute its outstanding performance to Mongolia-China railway construction.

The research and development of XCMG’s three-boom hydraulic rock drill jumbo started in 2011, cooperating with China Railway Tunnel Group. Under the guidance and care of academician Wang Mengshu, the research and development was going smoothly. The first product came off the assembly line and came on the market in August, 2012. So far, the products have been successfully applied to many key national engineering constructions like water supply project in the northwest of Liaoning Province, Shenzhen–Maoming high speed railway,Mianzhu-Maoxian highway and Mongolia-China railway etc.
