Salute to China Machinery Helping Build HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

On the morning of the 23rd, the ceremony was held in Zhuhai of Guangdong Province to celebrate the Bridge put into operation. The ceremony was attended by CPC General Secretary Mr. Xi Jinping, who declared the Bridge opening. The HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge runs across Lingding Sea to connect Hong Kong in the east, reaches Zhuhai and Macao in the west. The Bridge, stretching 55km in total, is the super-large sea-crossing project cooperated among Guangdong, HK and Macao for the first time.

Xi Jinping declared the opening of HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge

The Bridge was built in nine years and cost 100 billion RMB. It adopts the construction philosophy featuring large scale, standard, plant and prefabrication. The project uses 78 innovative working methods, software, equipment and products, applies for 454 patents, publishes 18 books and establishes 60 volumes of technical standards.

Behind this super-large project are super innovations. The bridge produces many first things in various fields, building the world’s most difficult, longest and deepest seabed sink-tube tunnel and creating a few world records, e.g., building the world’s largest steel bridge, producing and floating installation of the world’s longest seabed tunnel, and rapid formation of two artificial islands, etc.

In the period of building HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge, XCMG put into use more than 500 large equipment units, including 300 aerial-work platforms, 32 crawler cranes, 30 wheeled cranes, 6 large-tonnage loaders, and truck cranes, bridge testing vehicles, pump vehicles and mixing stations, etc.

In April 2018, six anti-collision buffer vehicles, two aerial-work platforms, two large-tonnage block removers, two road-cleaning vehicles, one truck cranes and one small loader were standing in rows to echo with the magnificent HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge.

Till today, 14 units of high-end XCMG equipment have been put into use on HK-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge. The XCMG anti-collision buffer vehicles, aerial-work platforms, truck cranes and small loaders are also in daily use after the Bridge is put into operation, serving the Bridge with their actions.
