On September 1-3, 2016 Japan Truck Show had a grand opening in Yokohama, Japan. Wreckers of XCMG Truck-mounted Crane Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “XCMG Truck-mounted”) participated in the exhibition on behalf of Chinese special-purpose vehicle brands. The biennial Japan Truck Show is the only commercial vehicle exhibition in Japan and is one of the most influential truck shows in Asia. Exhibitors are dealers of high-end special-purpose vehicles. Visitors are mainly clients who have extremely strict and professional requirements for the industry and vehicles, experts and scholars.
The agent of XCMG in Japan said to me, “Japan is a high-end mechanical product market. It has a very high level of the equipment manufacturing industry like Europe and the United States and other developed countries. In Japanese wreckers market, such domestic brands as UNIC and TADANO occupy most of flat wrecker market shares. And European and American brands occupy the rest of market shares. XCMG is the only Chinese wrecker brand which enters Japanese market in batches.”
Win clients’ trust with high quality
Two wreckers QZF10D and QZF3B of XCMG participated in the exhibition. They are significantly improved in such main functions as hoisting and lifting. Height of arm body is decreased, and effective lifting length is increased, so cost performance is higher. Hexagonal boom is used, and structure optimization and weight reduction of boom system are done, so safety factor is higher under the same operating parameters. Wireless remote control and wired control are combined to realize wireless control of hoisting and lifting and wired control of two sides behind lifting, which make users’ operation more convenient and make piping layout of the complete machine more beautiful. XCMG’s wreckers have realized technical innovation and weight reduction to improve functionality and convenience. Through optimal design, their stability reaches the highest. XCMG’s wreckers stood out because of strength, innovation and high cost performance. At the exhibition site, the 2 vehicles were sold and orders for 15 vehicles were formed.
Constantly strive for perfection
XCMG’s wreckers could not develop well without strong support from excellent clients and dealers. The agent in Japan has cooperated with XCMG since 2009. He has provided lots of improvement suggestions about such aspects of XCMG’s products as optimization of structural arrangement and components and parts arrangement, arrangement and maintainability of electric and hydraulic systems, welding and processing quality stability of structural members. Those suggestions show his profession and “nitpicking”. Such strict requirements and concentration on products have promoted the growth of wrecker R&D personnel of XCMG Truck-mounted. R&D engineers visited lots of domestic clients, accumulated experience in practice, observed commissioning after problems occurred and then conducted commissioning in person. Commissioning experience has laid a basis for design.
Enhance quality through innovation
In the past 8 years, R&D personnel of Obstacle Clearing Institute of XCMG Truck-mounted have carried out in-depth research on advantages of overseas wreckers from the perspective of clients, analyzed the differences between domestic and overseas products in product design and manufacturing, fully learned obstacle clearing and rescue experience, and continuously optimized solutions. Now main products being sold have an advantage on price and can adapt to the local market well after localized modification. Based on demand of different users, humanized and lightweight design of products will be improved continuously, cost performance of products will be enhanced, quality of key components and parts will be controlled, and reliability of products will be enhanced. Technical services and spare parts support will be provided timely to provide better follow-up support for clients. Problems reported by clients are less and less now. The number of wreckers exported to Japan has increased year by year, so the monopoly of American and local wreckers in Japan which has been kept for a long period has been broken. So far, products have been exported in batches to such countries and regions as South Africa, Indonesia, Russia and Japan.
In 2016 Japan Truck Show, XCMG’s wreckers displayed the power of products made in China with a new look to the world by relying on enthusiasm and profession of XCMG personnel and showed the determination about Chinese quality and perfect manufacturing.
