[XCMG Workers] The 600+ Days of A Young XCMG Employee in Overseas Market
Release Date: August 04, 2018

Hu Yan, an overseas service engineer of XCMG Crane, started to work in Malaysia market in the beginning of 2017. In the past one year and a half, he has become a “super star” in the local arena of engineering machinery. But what has made him so famous there?

Located at the Strait of Malacca, which is the key part in the global shipping route, Malaysia has long taken the best location in the world. As the ASEAN integration moves forward, ASEAN countries will strengthen connectivity of railways, highways, ports and airports and push forward building of infrastructure projects. As the transport hub in ASEAN and the important pivot country along the 21st century Maritime Silk Road, Malaysia has huge market of infrastructures.

In the beginning of 2017, CRCC kicked off its construction project in Malaysia, which also helped with large-scale expansion of China-made engineering machinery in overseas market such as XCMG products. The wheeled and crawler cranes of XCMG, e.g., QY25K-II, XGC55, XGC100 and XGC180 took the lead to enter the project site. In this crucial period, Hu Yan took the task of providing after-sales service to XCMG cranes operating there.

Preliminary work, such as use guidance, equipment installation and trial use, and operator training, is needed when new products enter a market. These tasks kept Hu Yan busy. To ensure the efficient and orderly work, and make sure local users are proficient in using the machines, Hu Yan was ready to work day and night. In the daytime, he would work as the General Commander of operations while providing guidance for equipment installation and operations. He would provide demo for operations on the site. At night, he would work out more detailed solutions to problems arising in the daytime. After working like this for half a month, the equipment was put into use at the end of April. From then on, all people in the project knew Mr. Hu coming from XCMG.

Malaysia, which is close to the equator, is a rainy country. There are no distinctive four seasons there. The weather is always moist and hot. This is very difficult for the engineering projects. XCMG cranes have got used to working in rains. To ensure the equipment operates efficiently and safely, Hu Yan keeps working on the construction site even though he is full of confidence in XCMG products, asking about the product use and giving proposals on maintenance of products. He would rush to the construction site immediately after receiving the phone cal in the midnight.

With his exceptional professional skills and service attitude represented by his timely response and efficiency, Hu Yan has built mutually-trust relations and even friendship with everyone in the region. Thanks to his dedicated to studying the engineering machinery, Hu Yan is resorted to even when other kinds of equipment fail in local engineering projects, such as excavators and drilling machines. He has become the “star” in the local communities.

Talking about his work, Hu Yan always says like this in shyness, “I am just one of the XCMG workers, doing what I am trained for every day. In the overseas market, our products have first-class quality and reliability. And we should provide the best service to make sure XCMG brands get trust from more users in the world.”

This is the motive driving XCMG employees to work harder. Even in the overseas countries, the thousands of XCMG workers are acting to convey the charm of high-end engineering machinery made in China.
